Curt D. Donaldson is a universally respected leader in the Joint Special Operations Community. The capstone of his career was serving as the Command Sergeant Major of the 75th Ranger Regiment. He is an expert at integrating new technologies with Special Operations Forces and is a recognized leader and mentor to Army Leaders.
He rapidly ascended the ranks after completing Infantry One Station Unit Training, Basic Airborne Course and the Ranger Indoctrination Program at Fort Benning, Georgia. Upon completion, he was assigned to Charlie Company, 3rd Ranger Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment, Fort Benning, Georgia. CSM Donaldson’s additional assignments include 1st Ranger Battalion, 3rd Ranger Battalion, Regimental Special Troops Battalion, 2-508th, 2nd Brigade, 82nd Airborne Division, and as the Command Sergeant Major, Regimental Special Troops Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment. CSM Donaldson has served in every leadership position including Team Leader, Squad Leader, Anti-Tank Section Sergeant, Platoon Sergeant, First Sergeant, Operations Sergeant Major, and Command Sergeant Major. CSM Donaldson’s combat tours include: five tours to Iraq and 11 tours to Afghanistan.
CSM Donaldson’s military education includes the Primary Leadership Development Course, Basic NCO Course, Senior Leaders Course, the U.S. Army Sergeants Major Academy/Distance Learning, Joint Special Operations Forces Senior Enlisted Academy, Master Breach Course, U.S. Army Ranger Course, Basic Airborne Course, Jump Master Course, Pathfinder Course, and Survival, Evasion, Resistance, and Escape Course.
His awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal for Valor, Bronze Star Medal with one oak leaf cluster, Purple Heart with one oak leaf cluster, Meritorious Service Medal with four oak leaf clusters, Joint Commendation Medal, Army Commendation Medal with Combat Device, Army Commendation Medal with one oak leaf cluster, Army Achievement Medal with three oak leaf clusters, Army Good Conduct Medal (7th Award), National Defense Service Medal, Presidential Unit Commendation with one oak leaf cluster, Joint Meritorious Unit Award, Meritorious Unit Citation, Iraq Campaign Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Operation Inherent Resolve, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal with Arrowhead, NCO Professional Development Ribbon (Numeral 4), Overseas Service Ribbon (Numeral 3), NATO Medal, Combat Infantryman’s Badge, Expert Infantryman’s Badge, Pathfinder Badge and the Master Parachutist Badge.
